The State Trading Centre on behalf of the Marine Research Institute calls for tender for The Icelandic Groundfish Survey (IGS). The survey is a significant part of the stock assessment and fishery advice for cod, haddock, redfish, tusk, ling, monkfish and several species of flatfish. Moreover, the survey provides information on the distribution and condition of many other fish species, as well as ocean temperatures. The main aim of the survey has been to ‘improve the precision of stock assessments of demersal fish in Icelandic waters, with particular emphasis on cod’. For the project is needed three licensed trawlers and crew with deep knowledge on the projects circumstances. The stratification in the survey and the allocation of stations is based on pre-estimated cod density patterns in different ‘statistical squares’ The IGFS covers the continental shelf of Iceland to depths of 500 m. Allocation of stations and data collection is based on a division into Northern and Southern areas.
